062-05 AREA NAVIGATION SYSTEMS, RNAV/FMS

About this course

Course Information

For many years air transport has been routed through airways to provide a safe means of control and separation of aircraft. Airways were defined by radio navigation facilities sited at significant navigational points. However, increasing congestion on the airways, the development of improved navigation and communication systems and ATC systems, the need for conserving costs have led to introduction of a more efficient method of navigation known as area navigation. Courses are constantly monitored and updated when major changes in authority documentation is released.
